Bahrain joins the largest annual space event in the world – World Space Week slated for October 4-10. Spearheading the activities from this side of the globe is the National Space Science Agency [NSSA] – Bahrain’s dedicated team tasked to promote space education and advance public interest in space pursuits.
The celebration of World Space Week is aimed at inspiring the workforce of tomorrow by drawing public awareness and support for space programs across the globe. It is also a way to educate people on the ongoing international cooperation towards mankind’s space aspirations pushing strides in technology, innovation and exploration.
In cooperation with Clever Play Education and Training, a line-up of activities are set for a full week of space fair. It includes virtual events targeting kids and youth such as DIY activities on Zoom, where kids will be asked to prepare materials for 2 space related STEM activities which they will do live with a STEM instructor. Live experiments will also be conducted via Zoom with fun and interactive segments for kids to enjoy. Also on the line-up are storytelling sessions in English and Arabic for young kids to enjoy space related stories with Q&A.
Dr. Shawna Pandya, Canadian Scientist-Astronaut Candidate with Project PoSSUM – a Citizen-Science Astronautics Program is also onboard and will be featured in a talk to share her experience and expertise.
