NSSA Successfully Concluded ‘Space Talks’ DISCUSSIONS
On 8th September 2020, the NSSA concluded the series of ‘Space Talk’ initiative, which was launched in mid-July and hosted specialists in space science and related fields that offered insights and inspiration for the youth and the public, such as Dr. Bassam Alfeeli – Director of Innovation and Enterprise at the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), Ms. Alyssa Carson – an Astronaut in Training and a Future Mars Walker from the United States of America, Pilot and Aerospace Engineer Mishaal Ashemimry from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The last session was a culmination of a series of discussions, and hosted the Russian cosmonaut and champion, Mr. Ryazanskiy Sergey, who has visited space and returned to Earth. He is well known not only as a cosmonaut, but also as a professional motivational speaker. He spoke to an interested audience of his incredible, unique time in space.
Titled ‘Believe in Yourself’, a presentation was delivered by Ryazanskiy at a lively session complete with his own photographs and videos. These depicted a series of highs and lows as well as the places he ventured to achieve his greatest aspirations, constantly challenging difficulties with patience, confidence and steadfastness, as he ultimately served in two space missions to set a record of 306 days in space.
A member of the audience was keen to comment on the presentation: ‘Ryazanskiy used his journey as a metaphor for life, with highs and lows, and I found that very inspiring. It was an amazing story that opened my horizons to the wonders of creation and increased my awareness of professions related to space science’.
The NSSA’s Head of Administrative Resources and Services, Ms. Maryam Al-Mulla, commented: ‘We sincerely thank Clever Play for their kind efforts in arranging this series of valuable presentations that have received great attention from the youth. Registration for attending the presentation gradually increased nearing its delivery date and as a result, technical efforts had to be doubled in order to accommodate all participants from within as well as outside the Kingdom of Bahrain. The enthusiasm of the distinguished keynote speakers was paralleled by the audience. The youth were keen to enhance their awareness of such a vital field, and they were very interested in acquiring skills in such sciences. We emphasize that the NSSA is keen to present more and increasingly relevant subjects in the near future.’.
