Employees Excel in Artificial Intelligence in the Russian Federation

Two employees, Engineer Muneera Al Malki and Technician Shaima Al Meer, participated in a training program entitled 'Foundations of Artificial Intelligence', recently organized by the University of Saint Petersburg in the Russian Federal Republic. Their participation in this course was a result of NSSA's keen interest to achieve the directives of His Majesty the King to give more attention to future sciences, including space sciences, technologies and artificial intelligence, and an effort on the part of NSSA to enable its own national young cadres to excel in such sciences.

Supporting Employees Joining the Artificial Intelligence Academy

The Artificial Intelligence Academy at Bahrain Polytechnic announced the first 28-member group, out of a total of 126 students who applied to join the Academy. Candidates were selected subject to specific standards that are subject to evaluation by the selection committee, which comprises representatives from Bahrain Polytechnic, Microsoft and Tamkeen. One of the accepted students is a National Space Science Agency (NSSA) employee, Ms. Shaima Al-Meer.

NSSA data analysts use advanced image processing methods and specialized software to extract valuable information based on stakeholders needs from satellite images and can furthermore integrate geospatial information acquired with different spatial and spectral resolutions to produce data that contains more detailed information than each of the sources individually.

Collaboration with ROPME and UOB on Oil Spill Detection Project

The National Space Science Agency in collaboration with the Regional Organization for the Protection of The Marine Environment (ROPME), based in Kuwait, Marine Emergency Mutual Aid Center (MEMAC), based in the Kingdom, Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), Supreme Council for Woman (SCW) and University of Bahrain (UOB) are working on a joint project titled “Automation Monitoring System for Oil Spill Detection in the Arabian Gulf.”
