The National Space Science Agency, represented by Eng. Reem Senan attends a Workshop titled “Space Technologies” at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) – Russia from 15th to 26th July 2019.

The Space Technologies program aims to provide advanced techniques of space engineering, understanding the core physics principles related to space exploration, and introducing the new technologies and researches that various companies and universities are working on in the space industry. Space industry problems are also considered during the program, in addition, some experiments were tested in their labs to gain more practical experience.

The theoretical courses cover astrophysics, space technology and physics. Students will train their practical skills during lab sessions (using various software and hardware such as Matlab and antennas) and an interactive satellite communication simulation workshop. The speakers are industry experts and scientists experienced in the field of space technology.

Eng. Reem Senan commented “It was a privilege for me to represent my country and attend such an interesting and important course alongside other international participants sharing their vast experience in space technology”. Reem further added “High-level international specialists were invited to give lectures and hold seminars, particularly, about CubeSats: a type of mini and midget satellites for space research. Most interesting were trips to the radio astronomical observatory ‘Svetloe’ and to the Pulkovo observatory.”

Participants of the program gained a set of competencies and skills in Satellites Engineering, Space Communication Techniques, Space Hardware and Equipment, Astronomy and Radio Telescopic techniques.

Dr Al Aseeri, NSSA CEO commented “I believe this promising program to be very useful for the participants, allowing the NSSA to fulfill its goals, specifically initiatives related to manufacturing and launching of satellites, and do wish more participants join soon.”

Dr Al Aseeri added “Finally, I am very proud of Eng. Reem Senan representing the Kingdom of Bahrain and the NSSA. She has shown great passion for acquiring knowledge in modern science, and mastery and excellence of all such knowledge in a record period. I am sure she is an asset for NSSA for future projects to come.”
